ENTRY CRITERIA

ukactive are launching ActiveLab with the goal of scaling products and services that will help get more people, more active, more often and that deliver tangible impact in improving their approach to physical activity.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Businesses should ideally have a commercial product with customer traction, demonstrable growth metrics and a growth strategy that could benefit from ActiveLab acceleration services. ActiveLab will consider businesses with working prototypes on the verge of launch if they can provide sufficient proof of concept and market potential.

All products and services within the realm of physical activity, health, and technology will be considered, both B2C and B2B. This includes, but is not limited to: web applications, gaming, virtual worlds, mobile or tablet applications, community and collaborative software, and non-technological solutions helping people become more active.

Selected businesses will likely have:

  1. Small yet highly experienced teams (approx. 2-10 employees),
  2. Already raised capital, be in the process of doing so, or be bootstrapped – with a high level of month-on-month growth, demonstrable through key business metrics
  3. The potential to address a large market with a strong vision of the future in our priority areas
  4. A focus on the following B2C/B2B target markets:
    1. Getting children and families more active
    2. Engaging with the inactive population
    3. Re-imagining physical activity assets and facilities
    4. Improving customer experience
  5. A basis in evidence to demonstrate how this will influence real world behaviour, for instance prototype data or a validated theoretical model.

We will evaluate:

  • The level of innovation or disruption to the physical activity challenges outlined by ukactive
  • How significantly the start-up addresses or resolves existing or previously unknown problems people might face around physical activity

Overall, selected businesses will be those we believe will gain the most from a partnership with ActiveLab and deliver high impact solutions to the growing challenge of physical inactivity.
